Our Honey

Drizzle is raw, unpasteurized honey that has not been heated or filtered. This means it still contains healthy enzymes, vitamins, and minerals that come naturally from honey. We also offer our new Superfood Honeys, which are a delicious blend of our coveted Drizzle White Raw Honey plus a number of intentionally selected organic and premium ingredients.

Because raw honey hasn’t been heated or filtered it still contains healthy enzymes, vitamins, and minerals. When honey is heated the enzymatic properties are destroyed and when honey is heavily filtered the pollen and beeswax are removed, which also removes many of the vitamins and minerals since pollen is rich in proteins, free amino acids, vitamins and folic acid. About 76% of the honey on the market has been processed, heated and/or filtered and we wanted to make sure ours was left raw, as nature intended.

When Drizzle was first started, our founder was an avid beekeeper in urban Calgary and our honey came from backyards around the city. Not only did Drizzle quickly outgrow this urban honey supply, but Aja (the companies founder) also became allergic to bees! To continue her passion for empowering sustainable production in the honey industry and love for real, raw honey she turned to her beekeeping network to continue the company, while also supporting local farms.

We now proudly source our honey from apiaries across Canada. In order to keep our honey completely raw, bee-friendly and 100% Canadian we only support local farms and beekeepers, use honey from remote hives away from pesticides and/or those close to diverse floral sources (makes for healthier bees) and those which we know will produce the most luxurious, delicious raw honey available. This year we were able to hold the first of many events which will help raise funds for Pollinator Partnerships, a registered not for profit organization dedicated exclusively to the protection and promotion of pollinators and their ecosystems.

Sourcing locally is important on so many levels for a conscious consumer. You can look at it from economic, environmental and health perspectives. If you haven't already watched it, the documentary Rotten by Netflix gives a great overview of why local honey is a better choice than imported honey.

Local honey is better for our planet because it reduces the environmental costs associated with food miles; that is how far your food has to travel from farm to plate and the associated fuel used to do this.

Sourcing locally also keeps dollars in our local economy. On the other hand, purchasing from outside sources dilutes these dollars because every stage that links the buyer to the seller (think trucking systems, warehouses, storefronts) takes a cut out of dollars that we could see go directly to our local business owners, producers and beekeepers.

Purchasing local honey keeps our hardworking beekeepers from going bankrupt. There are current issues with major honey brands purchasing “fake” honey, which is often adulterated, from abroad (see the Netflix documentary Rotten). Our local beekeepers cannot compete with the foreign prices to produce their honey on Canadian fields, and in some years face bankruptcy situations. In other words, they have to sell their honey below the cost it takes to produce it or they have to warehouse it, hoping for a fair price to be offered – both leading to no income. To make matters worse, some major brands are blending foreign honey with Canadian honey and labeling products as Canada-made honey, so consumers often do not know what exactly they are buying.

No, honey is one product that never goes bad or expires. We put a 5 year best before date on our jars just as a guideline but trust us you'll finish your honey way before then!

Most honey companies blend their honey together to create a consistent product throughout the year. Drizzle instead showcases and celebrates the natural, seasonal and floral varieties in our honey. Flowers that bloom in different locations and seasons change the colour and flavour of the honey. Unlike our competitors, we like to highlight these beautiful differences, rather than blend them together.
Sustainability is so important to us, Drizzle has sustainable business practices, packaging, and products. Our bee-friendly initiatives include sustainable sourcing from our local beekeeping partners, healthy hive locations (remote, wide floral variety) and donations to pollinator research.
Drizzle is unpasteurized, raw and 100% real, therefore a healthier option compared to traditional sweeteners and the majority of honey on the market which is pasteurized and heavily filtered.
Drizzle is proudly an all-female operated business and is making huge waves across Canada. The founder Aja (pronounced Asia) was formerly an environmental scientist turned sustainable beekeeper and Drizzle's investment partner is Dragon’s Den Investor Arlene Dickinson.
Our Superfood Honey Collection is the first of it's kind in Canada. This collection is health focused and showcase the benefits of superfoods. Each ingredient is intentionally selected for their health-conscious properties and functionality. For example, the Cacao Luxe Raw Honey contains Organic Raw Cacao which provides energy, Organic Lucuma for antioxidants, Organic Ceylon Cinnamon to boost cognitive function and Madagascar Vanilla that reduces inflammation.
How can I make my honey softer or have more drizzle?
Simply set the jar in a bowl of warm water or heat lightly your favorite way and it will soften easily. On a warm day in your house, it will even naturally soften.

Drizzle offers wholesale pricing on all of our products in addition to 7kg pails and unlabeled honeycomb rounds for kitchens and cafes to use. Send us an email outlining your needs and we will get back to you within 48 hours.

Ordering & Shipping

All shipping options are provided at the checkout. Please note that 2 business days will be added to your selected shipment option to accommodate the pick & pack process. For example, if you choose to ship within 1 business day you will actually receive the package within 3 business days.  

Honey is heavy to ship and we have done our best to reduce shipping costs as much as possible.  At the checkout we have reduced rates by  20-50% by passing along our business discounts to you, our loyal customers.

We accept payment through PayPal and Stripe (Visa, MasterCard, American Express). 


Pricing
All our products are priced in Canadian Dollars (CAD) and US Dollars (USD). When ordering from outside Canada & the United States, your currency will be calculated at checkout by Stripe or PayPal.

If Customs charges occur, please note that you, the buyer, are 100% responsible for the fees. We, the seller, are not responsible for customs charges. Because all international orders must be processed through Customs, they may take up to four weeks to arrive after they are shipped. 

Our return policy covers 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, refunds and exchanges are not available. 

To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.

If your product arrives damaged, we require photographs within 48 hours in order to disclose damages to the shipping companies we work with.

As Drizzle increases our product offerings, several types of goods are exempt from being returned. Perishable goods such as food (not including honey), flowers, newspapers or magazines cannot be returned. We also do not accept products that are intimate, or sanitary goods, hazardous materials, or flammable liquids or gases. 

To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase. 

There are certain situations where only partial refunds are granted (if applicable): Any item not in its original condition, with damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to our error, or any item that is returned more than 30 days after delivery. 

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.

If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment within a certain number of days.

If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again.
Following this, contact your credit card company - it may take some time before your refund is officially posted. Next, contact your bank. There is often processing time before a refund is posted. If you’ve done all of this and you still have not received your refund yet, please contact us at info@drizzlehoney.com.

Only regular priced items may be refunded. Sale items cannot be refunded.

Exchanges

We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email at info@drizzlehoney.com and we will provide you with our mailing address.

Gift Returns

If the item was marked as a gift when purchased and shipped directly to you, you’ll receive a gift credit for the value of your return. Once the returned item is received, a gift certificate will be mailed to you.

If the item wasn’t marked as a gift when purchased, or the gift giver had the order shipped to themselves to give to you later, we will send a refund to the gift giver and they will find out about your return.

To return your product, please send an email to info@drizzlehoney.com and we will provide you with the address to send your return to.

You will be responsible for covering your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.

Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you may vary.

We do not assume responsibility for reimbursement or compensation of returned packages lost in transit without proof of delivery to Drizzle's shipping address.

If you are shipping an item over $75, you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.
